Two Arrests Made in December Attempted Homicide Case

On Sunday, Dec. 8, at approximately 5:15 p.m., an attempted homicide occurred near the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue in the City of Sunnyvale.

The victim was confronted by Carlos Duran, a 26-year-old San Jose resident, at the intersection. The victim was shot once in the back as he attempted to run away. Duran got into a waiting vehicle believed to be driven by Pamela Pedraza-Melgoza, a 20-year-old San Jose resident. The victim was transported to the hospital via ambulance where he received medical treatment for his injury and was later released.

Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety immediately began investigating the shooting and worked with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office to obtain arrest/search warrants for the suspects.

On Wednesday, Dec.18, Sunnyvale SWAT, in conjunction with San Jose Police Department MERGE (SWAT), served two residential search warrants in San Jose and arrested Carlos Duran and Pamela Pedraza-Melgoza without incident.

Duran and Pedraza-Melgoza were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on charges of 664/187 PC – Attempted Murder with criminal street gang enhancements and firearm-related charges.
