Santa Clara to Host Six FIFA World Cup Games in 2026

The schedule is out and Santa Clara now has a better idea of which FIFA World Cup games it will host. On Sunday, FIFA announced that the San Francisco Bay Area, and by extension, Santa Clara will host six games.

“We are thrilled to host six games in the World Cup! This is an incredible opportunity for Santa Clara and the Bay Area as it will boost the local economy,” said Santa Clara’s Chief Public Information Officer Janine De la Vega.

“There is nothing quite like a FIFA World Cup, and we are thrilled to be playing host to six matches,” said Bay Area Host Committee president and CEO Zaileen Janmohamed in a news release. “This event generates global fandom, viewership, and visitors unlike any other. We believe that hosting these matches will have unprecedented tangible and intangible positive impact on the Bay Area, and we can’t wait to bring this to life for the Bay in 2026.”

The Bay Area did not garner any of the big games as it had hoped. Levi’s Stadium will play host to a single game in the round of 32 and five games in the group stage matches. None of the games in the quarterfinals or semifinals will be held at Levi’s Stadium. The finals will be held on the other side of the country at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.

The tournament begins on June 11, 2026 with Mexico playing an undetermined opponent at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca.

The U.S. Men’s National Team will play its first game of the tournament on June 12, 2026 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. None of the U.S. Men’s National team games will be played in Santa Clara. Instead, the national team will split games between Los Angeles and Seattle.

The third nation hosting the 2026 World Cup, Canada, will also begin play on June 12, 2026. Its first game is in Toronto.

2026 FIFA World Cup Games at Levi’s Stadium Dates

While we don’t know who will be playing at Levi’s Stadium in 2026, we do know when the games will be. FIFA released the game schedule on Sunday. Santa Clara will host the group stage games on the following dates:

  • Saturday, June 13, 2026
  • Tuesday, June 16, 2026
  • Friday, June 19, 2026
  • Monday, June 22, 2026
  • Thursday, June 25, 2026

The one game that Santa Clara will host in the Round of 32 is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature a new format with 48 teams competing.

The World Cup is just one of a series of events coming to the Bay Area. Levi’s Stadium will host Super Bowl LX just a few months prior, on Feb. 8, 2026.

In 2025, Chase Center in San Francisco will host the NBA All-Star Game and welcome a new WNBA franchise to the court.
