Santa Clara Police Report: May 24 – 30

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Residential Burglary

Location: 1500 Block of Vista Club Drive

An unknown subject(s) climbed onto the balcony of a residence on the 1500 block of Vista Club Drive. A screen was cut, and a bicycle was stolen. The loss is estimated at approximately $4,700. The subject(s) remains at large.

Petty Theft

Location: 2400 Block of Lafayette Street

A female subject entered a business on the 2400 block of Lafayette and stole items valued at $148.95. The subject was detained by store security and the merchandise was recovered.

Store security contacted Public Safety Dispatchers and an officer responded. The subject was arrested.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 2800 Block of Scott Boulevard

An unknown subject(s) cut the lock to a gate on the 2800 block of Scott Boulevard and broke into three Conex boxes on the construction site. Multiple tools were stolen valued at approximately $26,295. The subject(s) are unknown and outstanding.

Burglary

Location: 400 Block of Winchester Boulevard

Between 5/26/2020 at 2300 hours and 5/27/2020 at 0600 hours, an unknown subject(s) forced open a locked door on the 400 block of Winchester Boulevard. The subject(s) stole approximately $6,000 worth of tools from within the shed. The subject(s) are unknown and at large.

Theft from a Vehicle

Location: 3400 Block of Montgomery Drive

An unknown subject(s) stole the wheels and tires from the victim’s parked vehicle on the 3400 block of Montgomery Drive. The subject(s) remain at large.

Identity Theft

Location: 1900 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was dispatched to a bank on the 1900 block of El Camino Real on the report of identity theft.

Upon arrival, the officer learned the subject wanted to report an unknown subject(s) attempted to cash a fraudulent check using the victim’s identification. Through investigation, it was determined the subject had previously been a victim of theft earlier this month. Approximately $2,000 had been withdrawn from the victim’s account. The victim did not report this crime to police.

On 5/26/20, the victim obtained a call from a subject claiming to be from Citi Bank’s Fraud Department. The subject told the victim a withdraw was made from the account and provided a reference number but was working with the bank’s fraud department. The investigation is on-going.

Prowler

Location: 400 Block of Saratoga Avenue

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding a male prowler on the 400 block of Saratoga Avenue looking into the window of a residence.

Upon arrival, officers located a subject I the area matching the reporting party’s description on a bicycle. The officers initiated a traffic enforcement stop and the subject did not comply. Eventually, the subject’s bicycle slid out from under him and he fell to the ground. The officer was able to place the subject in handcuffs.

A Records check revealed the subject was a registered sex offender and on California Department of Correction parole.

As a result of the fall, the subject sustained minor injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. While at the hospital, the medical team located a controlled substance on his person. He was later transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
