The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the City and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.
Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s homepage (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Theft from a Vehicle
Location: Monroe Street and Don Avenue
A reporting party contacted Public Safety Dispatchers regarding an in-progress theft from a vehicle in the area of Monroe Street and Don Avenue.
The male suspect entered a parked convertible vehicle with the top down and stolen items from inside. The suspect then tried opening door handles of nearby vehicles; he gained access to at least one additional vehicle.
Officers located a suspect matching the reporting party’s description on Sahara Avenue. The suspect was found to be in possession of stolen property from at least two auto burglaries and was in possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Gas Leak
Location: El Camino Real and Monroe Street
A gas line was struck in the area of El Camino Real and Monroe Street. The Santa Clara Fire Department and PG&E crews responded and corrected the situation.
El Camino Real was closed from Lafayette Street to Lincoln Street for several hours. The Police Department conducted traffic control during this timeframe.

Fraud
Location: Police Building, 601 El Camino Real
An officer met with a resident in the lobby of the Police Building. The resident was a victim of fraud.
The resident was contacted by an individual through LinkedIn. The victim was asked to take personal delivery of a package containing $4 million. In exchange, the victim was promised 20 percent. The suspect sent the victim an invoice for courier delivery and insurance, which the victim paid.
The victim was later contacted by an individual that identified himself as an FBI Agent. The Agent stated the packaged was seized at an airport and a wire transfer was necessary to continue the delivery.
In total, the victim was exploited for over $200,000 in an effort to receive a portion of the $4 million.
This investigation is ongoing.

Driving Under the Influence
Location: Scott Boulevard and Clay Street
Officers were dispatched to Scott Boulevard and Clay Street on the report of male subject urinating in the middle of the roadway. The male was associated with a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle matching the reporting party’s description. The engine was running, the vehicle was in drive, the driver was slumped over the steering wheel and he had vomited on his lap.
The suspect performed the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Assist Santa Clara Fire Department
Location: 3000 Block of Kaiser Drive
Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Kaiser Drive on the report of a possible drowning.
A teen was at a condo complex with their classmates celebrating the end of the school year. The teen did not know how to swim and wandered too far into the deep end of the pool. A water rescue was performed, and the teen was transported to a local hospital for precautionary measures.

- Sign your kids up for swim lessons
- Parents, caregivers and pool owners should learn CPR
- Know how to get emergency help (e.g. access to a phone to call 9-1-1, poolside life preserver, available lifeguard, etc.)
- Assign a water watcher. This person should:
- not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- put down his or her cell phone
- avoid other activities
- supervise even if lifeguards are present
- switch off with another adult for breaks
- Blow-up water wings, toys, rafts, air mattresses and life jackets provide a false sense of security and should never be used as a substitute for learning how to swim and adult supervision

Warrant Arrest – Felony
Location: 1500 Block of Agnew Road
Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Agnew Road on the report of an in-progress violation of restraining order.
While en route, a Records check revealed the suspect had an outstanding felony warrant, the restraining order was validated, and officers were informed of the suspects history of fleeing from law enforcement.
Arriving officers set up containment around the target address. The suspect refused to come out of the residence. After about 45 minutes of phone negotiations, the suspect surrendered. He was later transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Robbery
Location: 2100 Block of Laurelwood Road
Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding a prior robbery on the 2100 block of Laurelwood Road.
Two female victims met three males subjects at a bar in San Jose on June 7. The females accompanied the males to a hotel. The morning of June 8, one of the male subjects brandished a handgun at the victims, stole their car keys and cell phones, and fled the scene. The subjects remain at large.
