Santa Clara Police Report: July 26 – August 1

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all the charge(s) associated with the arrest. Thefts from Vehicles

Location: Multiple Locations

On 7/26/20, between the hours of 0530 and 0700, multiple auto burglaries occurred throughout the City, including:

900 block of Wood Duck Avenue (20-726042)

1650 Hood Court (20-726081)

2200 block of Capistrano Drive (20-726044)

2300 block of Augusta Place (20-726051)

2600 block of South Park Lane (20-726-47)

3300 block of Granada (20-726039)

3400 block of Angelina Drive (20-726061)

3700 block of Flora Vista Avenue (20-726097)

In many cases, the items stolen were cell phone accessories, backpack, electronics, wallet with corresponding credit cards and cash.

Armed Robbery

Location: 1300 Block of Fremont Street

At approximately 0129 hours, Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding four suspicious subjects sitting outside the Senior Center on the 1300 block of Fremont Street. As the officer arrived, a vehicle was slowly driving away. The officer followed the vehicle until it accelerated at a high rate of speed. The officer did not pursue the vehicle.

At approximately 0141 hours, Public Safety Dispatchers received a report of an armed robbery on the 1300 block of Fremont Street.

Through investigation, officers learned a victim vehicle was occupied by a male driver and female passenger parked on Fremont Street. An unknown subject jumped into the backseat of the vehicle, pistol whipped him with a black handgun and told him to get out of the car. The victim accelerated at a high rate of speed with the subject in the car. The subject told the victim to pull into a parking lot on the 2100 block of Forest Avenue, got out and fled on foot. Meanwhile, the home was associated home occupied by residents and guests when three or four unidentified subjects entered the residence with firearms, demanded cash, and stole several electronic devices. The subjects fled the area.

This case has been forwarded to the Investigations Bureau for follow-up.

Drug Possession

Location: 3500 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call for service regarding two subjects trespassing on the 3500 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard.

Officer arrived and detained one male and one female subject without incident. It was later determined the male subject is homeless and has been sleeping inside of the vacant building. A Records check revealed he was on probation with search and seizure conditions, had provided a false name and date of birth. A search of his person yielded a credit card that did not belong to him and drug paraphernalia. He was issued a citation, a Notice to Appear and was released at the scene.

The female subject was released from the scene.

Residential Burglary

Location: 4900 Block of Avenida de Carmen

At approximately 1548 hours, a victim flagged down a police officer on patrol to report a crime.

On 07/28/20 a victim returned home from work at approximately 1430 hours and discovered a tool bag in the walkway in front of the residence. It was determined an unknown subject(s) entered the victim’s vehicle, used the garage door opener to gain access to the garage and stole several tools valued at $1,700. The subject(s) remain at large.

Theft Attempt

Location: 2400 Block of Anna Drive

An officer responded to a burglary in progress on the 2400 block of Anna Drive.

The reporting party told the officer an unknown male subject entered the apartment complex laundry room to gain access to the coins in the coin operated washer and dryer machines using an electric drill gun. When the reporting party confronted the subject, the subject fled the scene. The subject remains at large.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 4100 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

Between 07/30/2020 at approximately 2155 hours and 07/31/2020 at approximately 1000 hours, a business on the 4100 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard was burglarized by an unknown subject(s).

The subject(s) opened the front glass panel door without causing any damage to the lock, pried open an interior door with an unknown object and removed several items from within a storage room totaling approximately $716. The subject(s) remain at large.

Residential Burglary

Location: 100 Block of Saratoga Avenue

A victim was alerted by the leasing office on the 100 block of Saratoga Avenue about a break-in to the secured bicycle storage area inside the complex.

The unknown subject(s) stole two bicycles and fled in an unknown direction. The bicycles were valued at $1,549. The subject(s) remain at large.
