Santa Clara Police Report: February 10 – 16

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the City and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s homepage (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Warrants and Drug Arrest

Location: Agate Dr. and Pilot Knob Dr.

An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop at the intersection of Agate Dr and Pilot Knob Dr. A records check revealed the driver had a suspended driver’s license and four active arrest warrants that totaled $55,000. Suspected methamphetamine was found in the driver’s purse and a methamphetamine pipe was found in the center console of her car. The driver was arrested pursuant to the warrants, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended driver’s license.

Weapon and Drug Arrest

Location:  Los Padres Bl. And Vargas Pl.

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by four teenagers. In plain view were multiple alcohol bottles. The front passenger was found to be in possession of a switch blade knife.  He was cited and released to a parent. A large amount of suspected Xanax pills were found in the center console of the car as well as a scale. Due to the amount of drugs and the scale, it appeared the drugs were possessed for sale. The owner of the car was the parent of the driver. The owner told officers she did not give her son permission to take her car but declined to press charges for taking the car. The parent told officers neither her son or any member of her family had a prescription for Xanax. The driver was cited for possession of a controlled substance for sale and released to a parent. The remaining two juveniles were released to their respective parents without any charges.

Residential Burglary

Location:  2600 Block of Gamblin Dr. 

The residents returned home and found the front door of their house broken. The residents called the police. It appeared the suspect(s) broke a hole in the front door then reached in to unlocked it. The entire house was ransacked and property was taken. The suspect(s) fled prior to the residents return. The suspect(s) have not been identified and remain at large.

Driving under the Influence

Location:  Montague Ex. and Laurelwood Rd.

Officers were dispatched to a collision on Montague Expy. that involved one vehicle. Officers found a vehicle had spun out in the rain and struck a curb. The vehicle airbags had deployed. The driver was not injured. Officers determined the driver had been drinking. A preliminary alcohol test showed his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Drug Arrest

Location:  3300 Block of Lochinvar Ave.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex regarding a subject acting strange in the courtyard. Officers located a subject wearing only one shoe and claiming to be an FBI agent. Officers determined the subject was under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested him. The subject was in possession of suspected methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe. The subject was cited for the drug offenses. While speaking with the officers he also told them he was a medical doctor. It appeared to the officers the subject was also suffering from mental illness. The subject was taken to the hospital.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Location:  2222 Saratoga Ave.

Multiple Officers responded to the CVS store at 222 Saratoga Ave. for a report of a fight in front of the store between three subjects possibly armed with a knife and bat. Officers arrived and detained all parties involved. Officers learned that two brothers were walking in front of CVS when the suspect challenged them. This started a verbal altercation that escalated when the suspect struck one of the brothers in the head with a painter’s knife.  When the brothers attempted to defend themselves, the suspect armed himself with a metal pole that was approximately 2.5 feet long. The suspect struck both brothers with the metal pole causing complaints of pain from both victims. The victims declined medical attention. The suspect was arrested for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Driving Under the Influence

Location:  1400 Block of Reeve St.

Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Reeve St. to investigate a vehicle collision. The officers located a car with deployed airbags that had collided with a fire hydrant. The driver was not injured.  There was minor damage to the fire hydrant. The officers determined the driver had been drinking. The driver’s preliminary alcohol test showed her blood alcohol level was approximately twice the legal limit. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
