Santa Clara Police Department: April 19 – 25

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all the charge(s) associated with the arrest. Petty Theft

Location: 2400 Block of Lafayette Street

A male subject concealed three items on his person from a business on the 2400 block of Lafayette Street. The subject walked out of the store failing to pay for the items. A Loss Prevention Specialist detained the subject outside the store and called Public Safety Dispatchers.

The items were recovered and were valued at $69.74. The arriving officer arrested the subject.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 900 Block of El Camino Real

Between approximately 1920 hours on 4/18/2020 and 4/20/2020 at approximately 0926 hours, a burglary occurred on the 900 block of El Camino Real.

An unknown subject(s) smashed the front window, made entry into the business and stole approximately $22,000 in merchandise. The subject(s) are unknown and remain at large.

Residential Burglary

Location: 1600 Block of Andrea Place

At approximately 1830 hours, a residential burglary occurred on the 1600 block of Andrea Place.

A victim went to check on some noise inside the residence and confronted an unknown male subject. The subject fled on foot through the front door. No property was taken.

Through investigation, it was determined the subject entered the residence by removing a screen and prying a window open with a crowbar. The subject is unknown and remains at large.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 2300 Block of El Camino Real

A passerby notified Public Safety Dispatchers of a possible burglary at a business on the 2300 block of El Camino Real.

On arrival, officers located a glass window that had been shattered. An unknown subject(s) stole an unknown amount of inventory from inside the building. The owner was contacted and was advised to conduct an inventory to determine the full scope of the burglary.

The subject(s) are unknown and remain at large. The estimated cost to replace the damaged window is $1,200.

Sex Registrant

Location: 3500 Block of El Camino Real

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call for service regarding a male subject trespassing on the 3500 block of El Camino Real.

Upon police arrival, officers learned the subject was knocking on hotel room doors asking for drugs before locating and entering a vacant hotel room. Officers contacted the subject. A Records check revealed the subject was a sex registrant that was out of compliance. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Between 4/20/20 and 4/23/20, an unknown subject(s) broke the glass entry door to a business on the 3100 block of De La Cruz Boulevard.

Petty Theft

Location: 3000 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

An officer was flagged down by a citizen on the 3000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard following a petty theft.

The victim was placing groceries from a shopping cart into a vehicle when a backpack was noticed missing from the shopping cart. The backpack included the vehicle’s key fob, cell phone, batteries, charging cords, prescription medications, etc. valued at approximately $850. The unknown suspect(s) remain at large.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 1900 Block of De La Cruz Boulevard

Between 04/24/2020 at approximately 2320 hours and 04/25/20 at 0024 hours, and unknown subject(s) cut the fence surrounding a business on the 1900 block of De La Cruz Boulevard to gain access.

The subject(s) stole five cell phones and the keys belonging to several commercial vehicles. The subject(s) remain at large.
