Willy Wonka Auditions: Roberta Jones Junior Theatre begins its 48th Anniversary Season with “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka!” The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Everyone ages 8-18 who auditions will be cast in the show. Auditions are in the Mary Louise Mello Auditorium, at the Community Recreation Center, 969 Kiely Blvd. in Santa Clara, from 3:30-6:30pm. Performances will be October 28-November 6, Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm, Sundays at 2pm. Tickets go on sale at www.RJJT.org, or in person at the Community Recreation Center, starting August 29. SCPD to Host an Information Meeting Regarding the Police Explorer Program: August 8th, 6pm- The City of Santa Clara’s Police Explorers are high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, and volunteering their time to serve the community. Police Explorers volunteer their time at City events (Art and Wine Festival, PAL Boxing Shows, soccer games), assist in various divisions throughout the Police Department and ride with officers on patrol. They also receive monthly training on current law enforcement topics, law enforcement tactics, and leadership skills. SCPD is hosting a Police Explorer information meeting on August 8 at 6:00pm at the Santa Clara Police Building (601 El Camino Real).
