Police Report: Oct 28 – Nov 3

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the City and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s homepage (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Weapons arrest       

Location:  3400 Block of Agate Drive

Officers responded to the 3400 block of Agate Drive on the report of a domestic violence incident in progress.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the involved parties. A Records check revealed a male subject had a prior conviction out of San Mateo County prohibiting him from owning firearms or ammunition. The subject told officers he had a weapon in his closet. Officers located the firearm, which was loaded with five rounds. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Residential Burglary    

Location: 3400 Block of Forbes Avenue

An unknown suspect(s) entered a victim’s open garage on the 3400 block of Forbes Avenue, removed a set of keys hanging in the garage and drove away the victim’s vehicle from the driveway.

An officer responded to take the police report. It was learned the residents accidentally left their garage door open overnight. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Drug Arrest  

Location:  2500 Block of Tasman Drive

An officer was patrolling a parking garage on the 2500 block of Tasman Drive and conducted a license check on a vehicle. The registration had expired in August 2018, however the vehicle had a 2019 tag displayed. The vehicle was occupied by three suspects; two males and one female.

The officer made contact with the suspects. All three suspects were in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. One suspect was under the influence of a controlled substance. Male suspect #1 was cited and released. Male suspect #2 was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail. The female suspect, and owner of the vehicle, was cited.

Weapons Arrest

Location:  3200 Block of Lakeside Drive

Public Safety Dispatchers deployed officers to a possible drunk driver in the area of Lakeside Drive and Peterson Way.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with two male suspects loitering near two vehicles. One suspect was laying on his back, working on the front bumper of a vehicle. The vehicle had a blown out left front tire. This suspect was arrested for public intoxication.

Suspect #2 started the engine to a second vehicle and started to drive away. The officer ordered the suspect out of the vehicle. He complied, only to flee on foot on Peterson Way. The officer chased the suspect and a perimeter was established. A search of the vehicle yielded a loaded handgun and one expended cartridge. A search team was assembled. The suspect was located inside the perimeter, ignored commands and actively resisted arrest. An officer deployed a conducted electrical weapon and the suspect was taken into custody.

The Santa Clara Fire Department arrived on scene to render medical attention to the suspect and officers on scene. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and was medically cleared before being transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Resisting / Obstructing    

Location:  Brokaw Road / Coleman Avenue

An officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on Brokaw Road near Coleman Avenue for an illegal left turn. The female suspect yielded to the right curb. The vehicle had a paper dealer license plate mounted on the rear.

A Records check revealed the suspect had a suspended driver’s license and several outstanding warrants. As the officer returned to the suspect vehicle, it fled westbound. The suspect parked the vehicle and fled on foot over several fences. The suspect was located under the Coleman Avenue / De La Cruz overpass and was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

A search of the suspect’s vehicle yielded numerous burglary tools, a laptop and flat screen television.

Strong Arm Robbery  

Location:  1300 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of El Camino Real for a medical call. Upon arrival, the officer learned the injured party was the victim of a robbery.

A male suspect stopped the victim to ask a question. Due to a language barrier, the suspect handed the victim his phone to use the translation app. While the victim was looking at the phone, the suspect grabbed the victim’s belongings and ran away. The victim was pulled to the ground during the process.

The suspect remains at large.

Strong Arm Robbery  

Location:  3100 Block of Mission College Boulevard

An officer responded to the 3100 block of Mission College Boulevard regarding a strong-arm robbery that had just occurred, involving two suspects.

While en route, Public Safety Dispatchers continued to provide responding officers with the suspect’s description, last known location and direction of travel. A witness had tackled one of the suspects before he fled on foot.

A suspicious vehicle occupied by two male suspects was located. A registration check confirmed the vehicle was stolen. An officer pursued the suspect vehicle on Tasman Drive and then terminated the pursuit after speeds reached 90 mph.

The suspect vehicle was later located in the area of Tasman Drive and Great America Parkway. A second pursuit was initiated, which led to a crash into a fence at Ulistac Natural Area. The suspects fled on foot into the open space park. A perimeter was established with assistance from the San Jose Police Department.

The search yielded two suspects, both juveniles, matching the description of the robbery suspects. Witnesses positively identified the suspects as the ones who committed the strong-arm robbery. The suspects were arrested and transported to Juvenile Hall.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 5200 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

A commercial burglary was reported on the 5200 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard.

An unknown suspect(s) forced entry through the front sliding doors using a pry tool. Officers conducted a systematic search of the building for possible suspects still inside the store.  No suspects were located.

Officers were unable to determine what, if anything, was missing. The suspect(s) remain at large.
