Police Report: May 27 – June 2

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Traffic Accident – Minor Injury

Location:  Stevens Creek Boulevard and Lawrence Expressway

A driver lost control of a vehicle and hit the center island on Stevens Creek Boulevard. This action sent the car airborne, which collided with the top of another vehicle causing it to roll over.  As the vehicle was rolling over, a third vehicle struck it. One individual was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Stevens Creek Boulevard was closed for approximately one hour while the collision was cleaned up.  Time: 1181

NOTE:  A citizen reported approximately 100 vehicles blocking the roadway on De La Cruz Boulevard. One fleeing vehicle was cited (Case Number #18-4804).

Grand Theft

Location: 1300 Block of Pacheco Street

An officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of Pacheco Street regarding a reported theft from a vehicle.

Between 5/24/18 at 1800 hours and 5/25/18 at 1000 hours, an unknown suspect(s) opened the victim vehicle’s unlocked door and stole a cell phone valued at approximately $969. The suspect(s) are unknown and remain outstanding.

Drunk in Public

Location: 3500 Block of Monroe Street

An officer responded to the 3500 block of Monroe Street on the report of a disturbance between a security guard and a male subject.

The security guard had requested the subject leave the area, but the subject initially refused. Prior to police arrival, the suspect fled the area on foot.

The officer made contact with the subject at the corner of Monroe Street and Lawrence Expressway. During the interaction, the officer observed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Traffic Accident – Minor Injury

Location:  Mission College Boulevard and Montague Expressway

An officer on routine patrol came across a collision at the intersection of Montague Expressway and Mission College Boulevard.

A driver turning from northbound Montague Expressway onto westbound Mission College Boulevard mistook the circular green for a green arrow.  A vehicle driving southbound broadsided the turning vehicle. Both drivers received minor injuries.

Officers were on scene to conduct traffic control; however, there were traffic delays because of this incident.

Drug Arrest

Location:  El Camino Real and Los Padres Boulevard

An officer observed a suspect peering into the windows of a closed business on El Camino Real at Los Padres Boulevard. The officer initiated a pedestrian stop in the parking lot.

A search of the suspect’s person revealed a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested without incident.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 2800 Block of San Tomas Expressway

Officers responded to the 2800 block of San Tomas Expressway on the report of two suspicious vehicles near several abandoned buildings in the process of being demolished.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle loaded with stripped copper wiring. In addition, it appeared a window had been smashed indicating forced entry. Officers set up a perimeter and led a search team with a police canine. The unknown suspect(s) were not apprehended and remain at large.

Pursuit

Location:  1500 Block of Agnew Road

An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and driving through a solid red signal light. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop, however, the vehicle failed to yield. Two male suspects occupied the vehicle.

Public Safety Dispatchers advised the vehicle was stolen. The unknown male suspect led officers on a 3-minute, 3.9 mile pursuit which initiated on Lawrence Expressway and Cabrillo Road and terminated on Montague Expressway at Mission College Boulevard when officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle. The suspect reached speeds of 60-80 mph and repeatedly failed to stop at posted stop signs. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle broadsided a parked truck, causing minor damage.

At approximately 0100 hours, an officer located the stolen vehicle, unoccupied, in a parking lot on the 1500 block of Agnew Road. Officers set a perimeter and conducted a K9 search for the occupants. The suspects were not located and remain at large.
