The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.
Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Warrant Arrest
Location: 3500 Block of El Camino Real
An officer was deployed to a restaurant on the 3500 block of El Camino Real on the report of a male subject smoking marijuana inside the men’s restroom. Upon arrival, the officer met with the subject in front of the restaurant. A Records check revealed the subject had two misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident and booked at the Santa Clara County Jail.

Assault and Battery
Location: Cabrillo Avenue and Fordham Drive
An officer was dispatched to the area of Cabrillo Avenue and Fordham Drive on the report of a disturbance. According to the reporting party, a male subject in the area of Machado Park was walking in the street, throwing unknown objects at passing vehicles, yelling at people and had been in an altercation with the reporting party.
The reporting party waved down the officer upon arrival. The officer immediately noticed the reporting party had an abrasion above the eye and scratches on the head and forearm.
Officers located a male subject matching the description provided by the reporting party at Briarwood Elementary School. Upon contact, officers observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the subject and noticed multiple linear scratches on the inside of both wrists. The subject resisted being detained in handcuffs while officers investigated the situation.
A witness described waking to the sound of a man crying. The witness described the subject as homeless, sleeping near a shed and being approached by the reporting party to see if he needed assistance. The balance of the witness account of the incident is described above.
Based upon the observed behavior and injuries, it was determined the subject was a danger to himself and others. He was transported to a local hospital for his injuries and placed on a mental health hold.
The subject’s female companion videotaped the interaction between police and the subject.

Petty Theft
Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real
The male suspect took items totaling $81.96 and exited Target on the 2000 block of El Camino Real without paying for the items. A Target Loss Prevention Officer approached the suspect after he exited the store. The suspect then started complaining of abdominal pain. The Loss Prevention Officer contacted Public Safety Dispatchers.
Both the Santa Clara Police and Fire Departments were deployed. The suspect was transported to a a local hospital to be examined. He was later arrested.

Missing Person – At Risk
Location: 2100 Block of Walsh Avenue
A 70-year old female, recently released from the hospital and suffering from several medical conditions, walked away from the American Legion Hall unexpectedly. The subject left behind her purse, bingo playing materials, seat cushion and cell phone. The subject lives in Mountain View.
Due to her physical condition, time of day and cold, rainy weather conditions, SCPD issued a County-wide “Be on the Lookout,” distributed a Trak Flier throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, checked traffic cameras, contacted local hospitals, informed Valley Transit Authority personnel, monitored her credit cards, issued a Silver Alert, distributed information on social media and conducted a grid search. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office deployed two volunteer Search and Rescue civilians with a search dog. The Mountain View Police Department attempted to locate the subject at her residence and shared the missing person information on their social media sites.
The Sheriff’s Office located the subject on the 20000 block of Homestead Road in Cupertino. She was reunited with her family.

An officer was dispatched to the 2200 block of Calle de Luna on the report of a prior commercial burglary. Approximately 40-70 coils of copper wire tubing was stolen with a value of approximately $8,000. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Pursuit
Location: Lawrence Expressway at Benton Street
Two officers were teamed-up in a patrol vehicle when they observed a vehicle driving north on Lawrence Expressway at Homestead Road. A license plate inquiry indicated the vehicle was stolen out of Milpitas. The officers broadcasted all of the relevant information to their team and initiated a high-risk traffic enforcement stop. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed until it approached a stale red light at the intersection of Lawrence Expressway and Poinciana Drive. The vehicle skidded out of control through the intersection and struck the center raised median causing significant damage to the vehicle. The suspect vehicle then fled north in the southbound lanes. For citizen safety, the officers terminated the pursuit. The Honda was last seen turning west on Reed Avenue in Sunnyvale.
Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (SDPS) found the vehicle abandoned in their city at the intersection of Bluebonnet Drive and Sequoia Drive. The vehicle was still running, the engine was smoking and had radiator fluid leaking.
Multiple Sunnyvale residents contacted Public Safety Dispatchers regarding two suspects prowling in their yards. In one case, the outstanding suspects kicked in a door of a residence on the 400 block of Oak Drive in Sunnyvale. SDPS established a perimeter and arrested the two suspects, one male and one female.
A Records check revealed the male suspect had five active grants of probation, was currently out on bail from a prior arrest and was scheduled to be in court in the coming week. A Records check of the female suspect revealed no wants, probation or parole. Both suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Jail for multiple offenses including, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, probation violation, prowling, vandalism and felony evading a peace officer.

Drug Arrest
Location: San Tomas Expressway and Highway 101
An officer observed a vehicle traveling on northbound San Tomas Expressway from Cabrillo Avenue make an unsafe lane change. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop in the area of San Tomas Expressway and Highway 101. The vehicle fled onto southbound Highway 101. The officer did not pursue the vehicle but did take the onramp to Highway 101. The officer saw that the vehicle had collided with a concrete wall. Police units responded and detained the male suspect without further incident.
A large amount of cocaine was scattered throughout the vehicle, as was approximately $4,000 in cash. The suspect admitted to possessing the cocaine for sale. A Records check revealed the suspect had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
