Police Report

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Sex Registrant

Location: El Camino Real at Jackson Street
An officer on routine patrol came across a suspect whom police had several prior contacts. The officer ran the individual on the mobile computer for wants and warrants. The suspect returned as a transient sex registrant with registration past due. He was arrested for being out of compliance and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Driving Under the Influence

Location: Central Expressway and Bowers Avenue
Officers working a two-person patrol unit observed a vehicle using two lanes of traffic and the shoulder to travel on Central Expressway near Bowers Avenue. The officers initiated a traffic enforcement stop and noticed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication upon contact with the male suspect. The driver failed to satisfactorily perform the standardized field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to the Police Building’s temporary holding facility.

Possession of Stolen Property

Location: Monroe Street at Los Padres Boulevard
An officer responded to the area of Monroe Street and Los Padres Boulevard on a report of an argument between a male and a female. According to the reporting party, the male was holding a brick and appeared as though he was going to throw the brick at a parked vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers detained the male suspect. A Records check revealed the suspect was on searchable probation. A search of his backpack yielded stolen mail and items of other persons’ identities. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.

Driving Under the Influence

Location: 3300 Block of Monroe Street
Officers responded to a vehicle accident on the 3300 block of Monroe Street. Upon arrival, officers learned the female suspect crashed into a carport, damaging storage lockers, before backing into an adjacent vehicle. The driver exhibited symptoms of being under the influence and admitted to drinking and driving. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Counterfeit Bills

Location: 3500 Block of El Camino Real
A male suspect rented a room and purchased snacks from a hotel on the 3500 block of El Camino Real. The suspect paid with three counterfeit $100 bills. The counterfeit money went undetected.

Several people visited the room and neighbors complained of noise on several occasions. A warning was provided. In addition, a second male suspect was circling the location in a vehicle.

At 0100 hours, the hotel staff realized the suspect’s driver’s license was in the lobby. Shortly thereafter, the suspect came to the reception desk to purchase a beverage and used a counterfeit $20 bill. The staff member determined the bill was counterfeit and contacted Public Safety Dispatchers.

After several attempts, the suspect opened the door to police knocking. A Records check revealed suspect #1 was on post-release community supervision. Suspect #2 was not in the room. A search of the hotel room yielded a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, blank checks from another person and personal identification from other individuals. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara Police Building. While at the Police Building, the suspect became incoherent and suffered a mild seizure. He was transported to a local hospital. Upon being released, he was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Robbery

Location: 3200 Block of Rustic Drive
Three victims were walking westbound on Pepper Tree, from Central Park, when a vehicle that had been parked began following them. Between 0001 and 0030 hours, two suspects approached the victims on the 3200 block of Rustic Drive. The suspects were armed with a shotgun and demanded everything in the victim’s pockets. The robbery included three cell phones, one Bluetooth speaker, a wallet and an iTouch. A third suspect remained in a vehicle parked on the south sidewalk which was used as a getaway vehicle. The suspects remain at large.

Drug Arrest

Location: 3500 Block of El Camino Real
An officer observed a vehicle with an inoperable brake light on the 3500 block of El Camino Real. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop and approached the male driver. A Records check revealed the suspect had a suspended driver’s license with good service.

The suspect exhibited several symptoms of recent stimulant use. A search of his person yielded a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested.

Weapons

Location: Monroe Street and Roosevelt Circle
An officer observed a vehicle with an obstructed rear license plate. The officer conducted a registration check via the patrol vehicle’s mobile data terminal and learned the registration was suspended. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on the male driver who was accompanied by a female passenger.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana. Both individuals displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. A Records check revealed the driver had a felony conviction and a suspended driver’s license with good service. A search of the suspect yielded approximately one pound of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, two cell phones and a loaded handgun. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
