The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.
Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the comprehensive list of arrests made.

Driving Under the Influence
Location: El Camino Real and Scott Boulevard
An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on El Camino Real near the Police Building. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop near Scott Boulevard. Upon contact with the driver, the officer noted objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The officer had the male driver perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST), including administering a Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS) test. Based on the officer’s observations, responses to questions, results of the SFST’s and the PAS test, the driver was booked at SCPD’s temporary holding facility and later released on his own recognizance.

Driving Under the Influence – Felony
Location: 900 Clyde Avenue
Officers responded to a hit and run collision on the 900 block of Clyde Avenue. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect collided with several vehicles before fleeing the scene on foot.
At approximately 0320 hours, two subjects, one female and one male, walked towards the officers at the scene. The subjects identified themselves as the male driver and his mother. The 18-year old driver admitted he was at fault for the collision. While the officer was speaking with the subject, the officer noted objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The officer had the subject perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST), including administering a Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS) test. A Records check revealed the subject did not have a driver’s license, nor was he able to provide car insurance. During a search of his person, the officer located composite knuckles in his jacket pocket. The driver was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Vehicle Theft
Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real
Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of El Camino Real on the report of an automobile theft that had just occurred. The victim had been inside the store and left a set of car keys on the counter. When the victim returned, the car keys were missing.
Store security retrieved surveillance footage that showed a male suspect walking near the victim’s car while pushing the unlock button on the remote. The suspect then drove the victim’s car to a neighboring restaurant before returning to the store where he re-joined a female co-suspect. The suspects were contacted by store security, but denied any wrongdoing. Store security detained the suspects until an officer arrived.
The victim noted several items missing from inside the vehicle, including approximately $200 in cash.
A Records check revealed the suspect was on Post Release Community Supervision. A search of the vehicle yielded a magnetic tool commonly used to defeat store security tags, a controlled substance and property from previous burglaries in the area. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Residential Burglary
Location: 1900 Block of Briarwood Drive
The victim left his home at approximately 0950 hours and returned at approximately 1700 hours. Upon arrival, the victim discovered that his front door had been forced open and his home had been ransacked. An Apple laptop computer, Apple iPad, and two sets of spare car keys were stolen. The victim estimated the total loss at approximately $1650. No suspects were identified or located. There were no witnesses to this burglary.

Stolen Vehicle
Location: 2100 Block of Laurelwood Road
An officer was dispatched to the 2100 block of Laurelwood Road on the report of a stolen vehicle report at a U-Haul location. The missing vehicle dolly was returned by a renter on 9/30/17 and discovered missing from the parking lot on 10/1/17. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Medical Location: 500 Block of El Camino Real
Public Safety Dispatchers were contacted about a male subject who became ill due to excessive consumption of alcohol. The subject was unresponsive and could not answer Police or Fire personnel questions due to his level of intoxication. He was transported to a local hospital.

Warrant Arrest – Felony
Location: 2200 Block of Monroe Street
An officer was in a parking lot on the 2200 block of Monroe Street beginning to coordinate a felony warrant service on a male suspect. The officer observed the suspect enter his vehicle and begin to drive away. When the suspect spotted the officer, he parked his car and tried to walk away. The officer took the suspect in custody without incident.
The suspect had a $250,000 felony warrant. He was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Vehicle Theft
Location: 600 Block of Moreland Way
An officer initiated a vehicle enforcement stop on the 600 block of Moreland Way when the car immediately fled. Officers in the area were flagged down by pedestrians about the vehicle driving erratically near Rivermark shopping center. Officers located the abandoned vehicle, still running without a key, near Agnew Road and Harrigan Drive. After contacting the registered owner, it was determined the vehicle was recently stolen. The suspect(s) is unidentified and still at-large.
