The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.
Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Weapons Arrest
Location: Scott Boulevard and Martin Avenue
An officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop for expired registration near the intersection of Scott Boulevard and Martin Avenue. The male suspect revealed to the officers that he had a loaded handgun in his backpack which was sitting on the front seat of his vehicle. A search of his person also yielded a controlled substance. A Records check revealed he had an active infraction warrant. The suspect was arrested.

Residential Burglary
Location: 2300 Block of Roosevelt Avenue
Officers responded to the 2300 block of Roosevelt Avenue on the report of a residential burglary. The unknown suspect(s) made entry into the home by punching a hole into the stucco. The suspect(s) ransacked the bedrooms, including making several holes in the sheetrock to make entry from room to room avoiding detection by the motion sensors. The suspect(s) stole a Samsung tablet and approximately $220 in cash.
This case has similarities to another incident (Case Number #16-11330); both of which are under investigation.

Warrant Arrest
Location: Scott Boulevard and Walsh Avenue
An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and witnessed it turn right onto Scott Boulevard without stopping, per the red light. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Scott Boulevard and Walsh Avenue. The vehicle was occupied by three adult males. A Records check revealed the driver had a suspended driver’s license and an active misdemeanor warrant out of Menlo Park Police Department. The suspect was arrested and a licensed driver drove the vehicle away from the scene.

Residential Burglary
Location: 700 Block of Los Olivos Drive
An unknown suspect(s) pried open a window of a residence on the 700 block of Los Olivos Drive and entered the home. The entire residence was ransacked and numerous items were stolen including electronics, jewelry, vehicle keys and identification paperwork. The suspect(s) is unknown and outstanding.

Resisting / Obstructing
Location: Lafayette Street and Bellomy Street
Santa Clara University (SCU) Security found a male suspect sleeping on campus. The suspect was uncooperative and refused to leave the property. Upon SCPD arrival, the suspect fled on foot. The suspect was apprehended in the area of Lafayette Street and Bellomy Street. While attempting to pat search the suspect, he attempted to bite officers. He was placed in a “wrap device” for everyone’s safety. The suspect was arrested for resisting arrest and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Residential Burglary
Location: 2500 Block of Malone Place
Officers were dispatched to a possible residential burglary in process on the 2500 block of Malone Place. The reporting party arrived at the residence and found the side gate open, the rear door kicked in and the inside of the house ransacked. A search of the residence did not reveal any suspect(s). Numerous items were stolen, including jewelry, purses and cash. The total loss was estimated at $6,440. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Municipal Code Violation
Location: Clyde Avenue and Lafayette Street
Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Clyde Avenue on a report of an extremely aggressive salesman attempting to sell an alternate electricity provider in the area of Clyde Avenue and Lafayette Street. While officers were responding, Public Safety Dispatchers received several more calls regarding the subject. Responding officers were flagged down by several citizens who pointed out the male suspect as the person in question.
The suspect was uncooperative with officers and initially refused to sign the citation for his unlawful act of peddling without a business license until he realized he was not in the City of San Jose. He ultimately signed the citation and was released from the scene without further incident.
