Milestones – Great Living! – Opinion

If there is any way to excite Levi’s Stadium crowds in the 49ers’ opener, it’s a win. In this case a BIG win over Aaron Rogers and the New York Jets.

One outstanding highlight was the run game by former bench sitter Jordon Mason, who racked up 147 yards rushing.

Then there was Mr. 262, (last person drafted) Brock Purdy, who passed for 231 yards and no interceptions.

As the TV cameras panned over the Bay Area, they showed a lot of territory and omitted a lot of Santa Clara.

We think that Santa Clara has more to offer than meets the eye of the national TV cameras.

Maybe, just maybe, we could direct coverage to a few places that are household names, that are stars in their own right and some of America’s best-known companies.

TV announcers could use halftime and timeouts to show just a few of the world’s leading industries within minutes of Levi’s. Let’s see … a few blocks away are Intel, Advanced Micro Devices and the world’s number one stock company this year, Nvidia!

Additional attractions include Great America, Mission College and don’t forget the Santa Clara University, with the 25th best-rated undergraduate program in America.

Another well-known building, seldom shown or discussed, is the distinctive Santa Clara Convention Center, home to many national events, shows and conventions.

What does Santa Clara need to do to obtain more TV exposure than just the Bay Bridge and San Francisco skyline?

With nine more home games for the 49ers at Levi’s, maybe owner Jed York and president Al Guido can help out the networks and give them a few pointers on why people live here and love Santa Clara.

They might point out that Santa Clara is a very happening place and residents have a city and city council that appreciates having the 49ers living, working and playing in town.
