Bad boy blogger Bobby Haugh appeared in court this week to face a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor. He was arrested on a similar charge last summer, but the DA didn’t press charges.
Haugh and his blog have been a controversial column for conversation in the City’s counterfeit, caustic and critical communication with citizens on the internet.
The Weekly obtained texts several years ago linking Haugh to Mayor Lisa Gillmor. Whenever the hatchet was going to be dropped, Haugh “just happened” to have a horrific handle on the happening, which he often handled with curt, cantankerous, and cynical comments.
What goes around comes around and while he is innocent until proven beyond doubt to be guilty, the stigma of sexual sins with a child is significant.
Haugh has a following of a few hundred residents, most of whom are holdovers from the Stand up for Santa Clara cynics who opposed Levi’s Stadium.
It is hard to believe there are still folks who oppose the stadium since it has been 10 years since it was approved. The 49ers brought the City millions and then COVID arrived, putting the kibosh on recurring revenue until the crisis is contained. The 49ers also made it to the Super Bowl last year yet were totally snubbed by Mayor Gillmor and her council cronies.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are making great use of our stadium facility by providing vaccination services to county residents. Levi’s Stadium is now the largest facility providing COVID-19 vaccines in the State.
Most likely the new Council will find ways in which to maximize City revenue once the stadium reopens for business. The nerd-like nonsense of eliminating activities after 10 p.m. three or four times a year should sincerely be scuttled!
These few hours of performances make millions for Santa Clara. Cancelled concerts are increased cause for the current Council’s looking up to see the budget’s bottom. The current crisis count is minus $42 million, up $8 million in the past 60 days.
It is disappointing and discouraging that Mayor Gillmor is beholding to Busted Blogger Bobby while seriously snubbing the 49ers. Worse is the bloating of Santa Clara’s budget and fracturing the City’s financial future.
It is obvious that practical priorities in the Mayor’s office are as upside down as her City budget.
Gotta love the alliteration! “controversial column for conversation in the City’s counterfeit, caustic and critical communication with citizens on the internet”. Well done, sir, well done.
It might be worth nothing that Haugh has attempted to raise legal funds for these charges on his blog.
Last I looked Haugh’s go fund me was stalled at the $930 that he received initially. His goal is $8000. His buddy the mayor may make her contributions privately.
