St. Justin’s Hall was filled with hungry Lion’s Club supporters on January 21. Attendees anxiously awaited the delivery of their food and Lion’s Club members, like Larry Yates, made sure plates were never empty for long. The capacity crowd could only mean one thing – the Santa Clara Lion’s Club was having its annual all-you-can-eat crab cioppino feed.
The event, now in its 30th year, saw an appearance by the newly crowned Miss Santa Clara, Caitlin Hoemmelmeyer. Hoemmelmeyer stopped by to help auctioneer Jim Lee during the live auction. The auction and event help fund the Lions’ charitable causes including the Blind Center of Santa Clara County, local youth organizations and activities, eyeglass collections and diabetes screenings.
The Santa Clara Host Lions Club meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Santa Clara Elks Club, 1680 Martin Avenue. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. For more information visit www.lions4c6.org.
