Unintended Consequence of Smoking Ban – Letter To The Editor

I am writing today to point out the unintended consequences of the recently implemented Smoking Ban in Santa Clara. I walk my dog every day on a street called Santa Lucia. This street is lined with apartments on both sides. Now that the residents cannot smoke there, they all come outside onto Santa Lucia and smoke there. Now I have to walk through plumes of smoke. Further, most of these folks just throw their cigarette butts on the ground when they are done. The street that used to be nice to walk my dog on is now filled with clouds of smoke and littered cigarette butts. Before the smoking ban, I had no contact with smoking but now I do. This ban has literally negatively affected my quality of life. This is what happens when you try to use the law for social engineering, especially when you have no understanding
