Dear Editor,
My high school classes have been taking place on Zoom, a now popular video communications platform. In general, my classes have remained essentially the same, and while the Shelter-In-Place order may be an experiment in teleworking, it also has major implications for online learning. Lately, I’ve been listening to some audiobooks on Audible, which released a list of young adult and children’s audiobooks for free. A few are even in different languages. The Berliner Philharmoniker has also released videos of their concerts on digitalconcerthall.com—and since I’m a musician, I’ve especially enjoyed listening to concerts.
Even though I’m unable to go to many places, there are benefits of staying at home. Despite the changes that the Shelter-In-Place order has brought to my daily routine, I encourage other students to try listening to audiobooks and investigating cultural websites as a way of staying happily engaged.
