A Spare the Air Alert has been called for recently, but this isn’t the first time that the air becomes unhealthy for sensitive groups if the index rises past a certain level.
A few months ago, our nation went into official quarantine due to COVID 19, an invisible enemy. Since then, it has subsided a bit, but plenty of people still went to parties, and ended up infecting one another with the virus.
However, a new crisis due to forest fires has shown up recently, one in the form of smoke, a visible enemy. I felt that this one sparked more of a fear of going outside for some people.
But why is this the case?
We can see and smell the smoke instantly, but the coronavirus is the one that sneaks up on us and strikes.
