Almost forty years ago, as a student council member at San Jose State, I did something very dumb. I supported a motion to fund the University Committee in Solidarity with El Salvador. It was silly and an actin completely out of touch with the interests of my fellow college students. It seemed like a good, my colleagues were bright people, one of whom became Chief of Staff to the Governor, But I had the affliction that some Santa Clara elected officials have, a break with reality. Yes, for the record, and I have said this multiple times, the 49ers are irresponsible at times. But when the city puts its faith in buffoons who do nothing as City Clerk, council members who act with the maturity of nine year olds, it begs the questions n, how long will this go on?
