Medicare for All – Letter to the Editor

As a Californian, I am strongly in favor of a public healthcare plan. U.S. healthcare spending per person is twice that of other wealthy countries. Despite massive expenditures, estimated at a total of $3.8 trillion for 2019, 29 percent of Americans are underinsured or have no health insurance. Under Medicare for All, those 29 percent would be fully covered, with no deductibles, no copays, and America would save an average of 300 billion dollars on healthcare per year. 69 percent of Americans are in favor of Medicare for All- M4A makes both good fiscal and good moral sense. If you’re in favor of M4A too, contact your congressional representative and urge them to co-sponsor M4A and the M4A emergency guarantee act, which would implement M4A nationwide for the duration of the coronavirus pandemic.
