I was misquoted in the October 1st article by Carolyn Schuk about the Charter Review Committee meetings.
She wrote that I said that the three district option was not part of the narrow “assignment” given to the committee. It was.
What I had complained about was that the Clerk initially implied that any discussion of rank choice voting or how district lines should be drawn after the 2020 census was essentially off the table. I disagreed with the Clerk’s assessment.
Fortunately, the City Attorney later suggested that the Committee might want to give some guidance to City Council as to how district lines should be adjusted after the census and who should be involved in drawing those lines.
Thanks,
