Gillmor, O’Neill, and Hagagg are an embarrassment. Listening them is like listening to Southern segregationists try to defend their Jim Crow system. They don’t want minority votes to have influence, plain and simple. And they have convinced themselves that their way is the right way. So they are trying to get voters to commit to opposing the court and its very reasonable 6 district remedy in future litigation. Nothing new, Lisa Gillmor and Kathy Watanabe have been manipulating the electorate since they made paid television ads for their version of Measure J. And it was all a scam, making it look like the stadium would be completely painless. It has been a complete disaster, just in the lawsuit costs alone. And since they have radically expanded the City’s operating costs, while stadium revenues have cratered. Santa Clara is a wonderful place, and it the residents who make it that way. But this is exactly why Lisa Gillmor sees us as a resource for economic harvesting. She represents real estate speculators.
So the one positive change is that other voices have gotten onto the Council. One thing which helped was when P. Mahan and P. Kolstad refused to play along and kept the Caserta seat open, so voters could decide who filled it.
Well now we have to speak up, don’t let Gillmor and Assoc. fill the Mahan seat, let voters decide who fills it!
