I find it fascinating that the council decided that an issue brought by civil rights groups, brought up more than a “year ago”, is a “real complex issue,” according to Pat Kolstad, giving them cause to reject change. Yet these self interested council members, whose campaigns were funded by the 49ers and the NFL, who pay themselves a salary to be the “stadium authority”, who bit by bit give away any bargaining power Santa Clara should have if the 49ers really want this stadium, can make all these decisions to hand them the keys to the city without such contemplation? And they reject outright a petition raised by the requisite voters to slow the process down? It is time to recall ALL members of this council because they are ineffective at running the city and are in no position to objectively evaluate whether the stadium is a good deal.
