My two daughters attended Santa Clara Unified School District schools in the 1970s and 80s. Even in the post-Prop 13 years they were provided opportunities such as smaller class sizes, enrichment summer school and Gifted & Talented Education. Both girls were well prepared for Stanford and Santa Clara Universities and went on to successful careers.
Now my two grandchildren attend school in SCUSD and they do not have the educational opportunities and resources that my children did a generation ago. We are not unique in wanting the best possible public education for our children and grandchildren.
Measure A, a very modest commitment, will go a long way toward restoring the cuts that have been made in the past decade. We urge you to support Measure A for the direct benefit of all children in SCUSD.
