Letter From Joe Rooney

Re: Anti-development crusade not new in Santa Clara

Carolyn Schuk wrote the subject article with no reference to VTA involvement and planning for mass transit (Buses, Diridon’s money burner light rail, etc.) nor reference to the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) order (make that an unelected entity edict) that cities within the association build specified housing near transit centers (hence, the need for dense housing), if possible. We’ve had success with the city planning commission agreeing with our suggestions that 40 units/acre is far too dense for the current resources, specifically, park acreage, mass transits stops nearby and a chronic reliance on individual automobile transportation. Only to be overturned by the city council. Antonio Matos should have stuck around and gloated.

I suspect he didn’t reside in dense housing as he was espousing.
