As a person who helped recruit, manage, and support a handful of minority candidates for Santa Clara City Council and former city commissioner, I am amazed at the recent attitude of Miles Barber to drink sour wine from a rusty cup, and launch into a never ending diatribe about the City Council. There is not a single member of the Council I have not both opposed or supported in one form or another over the past twenty years. To suggest that our Council has made our City Management into silent partners makes me wonder if Miles will be hosting one of the conspiracy theory groups highlighted in his paper, the beneficiary of the “old boys and girls” group he talks about. Miles, our city is flying through both calm and turbulent skies, and nothing makes the flight worse than a cranky passenger who will not keep calm during the flight.
