Contribution reports show that over three thousand dollars was paid to a local petition firm by Santa Clara Plays Fair earlier this year to gather the bulk of the signatures they claimed were gathered from volunteers. Funds also were spent for cell phone expenses for the officers of Plays Fair. As signature gatherers are often activists, is it not possible that the bulk of the funds raised to pay signature gatherers simply went into the pockets of Plays Fair “volunteers?”
