Adequate Stadium Parking?
RE: City Desk, Sept. 25. Ms. Schuk reports on several of the City’s Sept. 12 Work Study Session agenda items completely ignoring item #3: “Presentation of Stadium Parking on the Golf Course & Convention Center parking,” which proposes to use the City’s golf course for stadium parking. The study presentation revealed of the 21,000 estimated stalls required, “11,000 – Executed contracts, 5,000 – Contracts pending execution and 5,000 – Remaining stalls needed.” The presentation further states: “The projected parking at the golf course would put us over goal…” The presentation provided a golf course site overview and tail gate parking setup configuration diagrams. The presentation also recommended further exploration of the BMX park area. The DDA Exhibit N “Summary of Parking Rights on City Owned Properties” makes no mention of using the golf course, soccer park, or BMX area for stadium parking. Is stadium parking truly proceeding according to plan?
