I recently read “City Lights Espresso: Where Everybody Knew Your Name” in the Silicon Valley Voice, and learned that the Mayor had coffee there. As a teenager who lives in the Santa Clara School District, I’d love to meet the Mayor over coffee. I think something like Mayor’s Coffee with Teens would be nice, as it could be a welcomed first step toward getting youth to pay attention to the City governance. Teens can provide advice and recommendations to the Mayor concerning issues and policies from recreation, lifestyle, to volunteerism. Mayor’s Coffee with Teens will increase the level of civic engagement of local students, allow them to learn to put ideas into action, and make a direct impact on their communities.
