This Tuesday, the Sunnyvale City Council and Cityline came to an agreement about unique community benefits for downtown. Big thanks to Sunnyvale Vice-Mayor Nancy Smith, 2020 Candidate for Mayor, for leading the charge to open a rink in Sunnyvale!. Beyond affordable housing progress was a stellar update for local rinks! The agreement included a commitment for 3 more seasons of Winter Ice Rink. This year’s inaugural year saw 400 people at the rink opening, attendees including Olympic Medalist Tim Goebel, Olympic Team Member Polina Edmunds, and performance from skaters including Emma Hedican, daughter of Olympic Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi. The Sunnyvale Rotary hosted rink events for under privileged; San Jose’s Sharkie made an appearance; “Robots on Ice” kicked off with Silicon Valley Ice Skating Association, SVRobo, SVCE, Skydio, SiliconSage, and BayOne. I’m enthusiastic for this win! What a great benefit for Sunnyvale and Silicon Valley people of all ages!
