Concerts in the Park and Family Fun Nights Begin June 8

This year’s Concerts in the Park takes a radical turn, switching the Sunday afternoon shows to a spread out, Friday night format. Unlike last year, which saw the summer series run every Sunday throughout the summer months, this year’s shows are switching to a new format, which has only four Friday shows and six Monday Family Fun Night performances.

Family Fun Night Schedule:

Monday, June 8

PAMPA Indian Classical Dance

The beauty of Indian dance takes center stage as PAMPA Dance Academy opens the 2015 Family Fun Night shows, performing classical dance in the forms of Bharata Natyam and Kathak.

Monday June 15 – Alison Faith Levy and The Big Time Tot Rock Band

Alison Faith Levy and The Big Time Tot Rock Band have played Family Fun Night in the past, but Levy has a knack of keeping kids moving to the music, which discusses subjects like cupcakes, driving and growing up.

Monday, June 22 – Alphabet Rockers

The Alphabet Rockers are also return performers to Family Fun Night and keep kids moving through beats and rhymes that have a positive message.

Monday, June 29 – Prairie Rose Band

Prairie Rose Band will perform American folk, camp and cowboy sing-a-long songs to begin the second half of the six-show series.

Monday, July 6 – Owen Baker-Flynn

Owen Baker-Flynn has been here before, but his variety act never ceases to delight with juggling, magic and fire eating.

Monday, July 13

Korean Dance and Music

Closing out Family Fun Nights will be Kim’s Dance Studio performing a show of traditional Korean dance and music.

Concerts in the Park Schedule:

Friday, June 26 – The House Rockers

Kicking off the Friday night shows is The House Rockers who have delighted audiences at various Santa Clara events, from the Street Dance to the Silicon Valley BBQ Championships. The House Rockers, a 10-piece band from Los Gatos, have won KFOX’s Last Band Standing competition and perform rock and soul music. The June 26 show is in combination with this year’s Silicon Valley BBQ Championships.

Friday, July 10

Orquesta Latin Heat Salsa Band

Taking the Central Park stage for the first time, Orquesta Latin Heat will bring it’s 10-piece Latin band to Santa Clara. Although a relatively new San Jose band (established in 2012), Orquestra Latin Heat specializes in playing salsa, Latin Jazz and cha cha, among other hip shaking genres.

Friday, July 24 – Bsides

Last year, the Bsides impressed concert-goers with their 60s sound and return this year to bring back the nostalgia of the rock songs so many grew up hearing on the radio. From Johnny Rivers’ Secret Agent ManÎ to Credence Clearwater Revival’s Fortunate Son,Î get ready to dance the night away with the music of the swinging 60s.

Friday, August 21 – The Megatones

Performing the final show for 2015 are the The Megatones, a Concerts in the Park favorite who have been performing at the event for multiple years and cover the hits from six decades (1950s-2000s). The Megatones have won KFOX’s Last Band Standing competition and were voted the Bay Area’s best cover band.

Concerts in the Park go from 6:30 to 8 p.m., while Family Fun Nights are 7 to 8 p.m. All shows are at Central Park, 909 Kiely Blvd. in Santa Clara. Visit http://santaclaraca.gov/index.aspx?page=50&recordid=3938&returnURL=/index.aspx for more information.
