Artist Katherine Young to be Featured at Triton Museum

The Triton Museum of Art presents What Do You Treasure? (May 3 – Aug. 3, 2025) by Katherine Young. Katherine Young (Katherine B. Young, MD, MFA) is a San Francisco-based artist who, after working for 10 years as a cosmetic surgeon, pursued her dream of becoming a full-time artist. Young specializes in artwork that depicts our oceans and this exhibition will include her work that addresses the issue of plastic pollution.

Katherine B. Young fell in love with the ocean when she was a small child. She spent a lot of time on the water before going to medical school to train in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. When she learned that plastic waste was causing great harm to the ocean, she decided to address it with her art. To learn more about the problem and possible solutions, she studied the Circular Economy at UC Berkeley. With her distinctive background, which intertwines medicine, engineering, and art, she is uniquely equipped to comment on, educate about, and propose innovative solutions to the environmental and health challenges posed by plastic pollution.

This exhibition, What Do You Treasure? is a curated collection of some of Katherine Young’s favorite works. The display includes a captivating array of paintings and sculptures that not only highlight her technical prowess but also underscore her unwavering commitment to environmental advocacy. Each piece in the collection serves as a testament to her love for the ocean and her relentless pursuit of a cleaner, healthier planet. Visitors to the exhibition will be immersed in a visual narrative that celebrates the beauty of our oceans while emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable practices.
