Santa Clara PAL Poker Fundraiser 2024

The Santa Clara Police Athletics League (SCPAL) proudly hosted its annual Poker Tournament on March 14th, drawing in a diverse crowd of 60 players, including SCPD, SCPAL members, community and business leaders. The event was sponsored by SC Police Officer’s Association, Master Precision and Mission Trail and held at the American Legion 419 in downtown Santa Clara. It featured an exciting evening of poker, delicious food, refreshing drinks, and exciting Live Auction prizes donated by local businesses.

One remarkable aspect of this year’s tournament was the final showdown, where the top three players were all women, highlighting the inclusivity and diversity within the SCPAL community.

The Poker Tournament serves as a significant fundraiser for the SCPAL, with net proceeds dedicated to supporting affordable youth programs. These programs focus on 7 different sports ranging from softball, soccer, wrestling to judo, and include memorable activities like fishing trips and the annual event “Shop with a Cop”—all providing invaluable experiences and mentorship opportunities for local youth.

The Future of SCPAL looks bright but will require turning up fundraising efforts to new levels. In a recent development, SCPAL signed a business lease for 34 years and 11 months with Developer Hunter Storm at Gateway Crossings in Santa Clara. Great opportunity for local business to become a sponsor of this state of the art facility. This exciting collaboration will pave the way for a new multipurpose facility for indoor sports from boxing to wrestling, meeting rooms for a variety of classes ranging from ESL, cooking, to financial literacy programs. This initiative underscores SCPAL’s commitment to providing educational opportunities and community enrichment beyond sports activities.

Santa Clara PAL continues to be a beacon of hope and support for the youth of our community, thanks to the unwavering dedication of its Board members and the generous support of its partners and sponsors.
