WePay Helps You Pay or Get Paid with a Finger Click

WePay is the Bay Area start-up company providing the electronic technology for Housing 1000’s Housing One campaign to raise funds to fight homelessness. WePay’s growing success story began in Boston, where Bill Clerico and Richard Aberman co-founded the company in 2008.

Nonprofits such as Housing 1000, small businesses, event planners selling tickets, and individuals such as gardeners, tutors, piano teachers, yoga instructors, maids, and craftspeople use WePay to receive electronic payments for their causes, services, and products. They pay only a flat 3.5% fee. According to Clerico, using WePay offers a number of advantages.

WePay prides itself on ease of service set up and use and on good customer service—both for goods and service providers and for consumers. A business can set up a store, send invoices, and receive payments. With WePay’s professional invoicing solution, a small business looks as good as a big business, and collections go way up faster online.

Consumers have the convenience and security of making free electronic payments with the click of a finger without divulging their credit card information to individual providers of services and goods.

WePay went public in 2010 and moved to Palo Alto about two and a half years ago. It has attracted about $20 million in venture capital funding and more than 40 employees—and is hiring.

“The Bay Area has the right combination of talented people and an economic system that allows start-ups to flourish. That’s why we moved three thousand miles to be here,” says Clerico.
