A resident of Sunnyvale has died after being struck by a VTA bus at a Santa Clara bus stop on Thursday night.
At approximately, 6:20 p.m., Santa Clara Police Officers responded to a traffic accident at the El Camino Real and Railroad Avenue bus stop.
According to reports, the female victim exited the bus via the middle doors and walked several feet away from the bus on the sidewalk. As the bus was pulling away from the curb, the victim started to pursue the bus. The victim stumbled and was struck by the bus.
The victim—described as a 56-year-old female from Sunnyvale—sustained major injuries and was treated at the scene by Santa Clara Fire Department personnel. The victim was then transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is not currently available.
