On Saturday, September 17, while many enjoyed the Santa Clara Art and Wine Festival, others took a break from the day and had a chance to participate in a grand opening of Santa Clara’s newest coffee shop, Voyager Craft Coffee. Located at 3985 Stevens Creek Blvd in Santa Clara, Voyager has taken over Bellano Coffee’s former location so the spot will look familiar to coffee fans. But a good location doesn’t guarantee a great cup of coffee. However here’s where Voyager Craft Coffee will thrill coffee fans of good coffee – the coffee they serve is very tasty and the prices won’t scare a coffee fan into considering switching to tea.
Lauren Burns and Sameer (Sam) Shah are the owners Voyager and the Santa Clara store is their first “brick and mortar” shop. Up until now, Voyager had been strictly a coffee cart that would drive to different locations – Farmers Markets, street fairs, corporate events, weddings and other venues where people enjoy a good cup of coffee.
What sets Voyager apart from other coffee shops is in addition to standard coffee drinks, they also offer “Travel-inspired coffee drinks” with names such as Santiago, Bali, Savannah and Valencia. What does “travel-inspired” mean? In the case of Santiago, it’s looks like a Cappuccino, but that’s pretty much where the comparisons end as the ingredient list includes Cayenne and Ginger. The Savannah includes muddled mint and reduced bourbon. The list of custom coffee drinks will rotate which should keep the most discriminating customers happy. Lastly, the furniture sets the decor apart. All the furniture in the shop is handmade by Sam and Lauren and they used reclaimed wood to make a bench for the shop.
