One man was killed and another severely injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment after a train hit them near the Santa Clara Caltrain station on Jan. 20.
A northbound train, NB 375, an express train, traveling between 50 and 70mph, that does not stop at the Santa Clara station, struck the two pedestrians on the tracks north of the Santa Clara station at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The Santa Clara station was closed for approximately three hours before re-opening for normal operation.
Details on why the pedestrians were on the tracks were not available as of press time, as an investigation continues.
