Temporary City Closures Due to COVID

The City of Santa Clara has temporarily closed some city facilities to keep the community and employees safe from the increasing positivity rate of the COVID-19 variants.

The City announced the closures on Jan. 7. Santa Clara City Hall, the main lobbies of the Police and Fire Departments and the Silicon Valley Power office on Martin Ave. are all temporarily closed.

“Moving to remote work reduces possible exposure and extends the availability of City staff to provide essential services to the public,” the City said in a recent news release.

City libraries and Parks and Recreation facilities are still open to the public. The City’s Bookmobile will continue to make some stops within the City. Most visits to local schools have been canceled for the next few weeks.

The City will still conduct business at City Hall but by appointment only. Customers can make drive-thru payments to the City’s Finance Department.

City staff will assess the temporary closure weekly. The City will reopen once there is a significant decrease in cases.

City services are still available by scheduling virtual appointments or using one of the many online services available 24/7. You can find details on the City’s website here.

The City of Santa Clara requires members of the public and employees, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask indoors at all public City facilities. Mask exemptions include children under two and persons with a medical condition or disability.

Sunnyvale Services Remain Open

The City of Sunnyvale continues to provide by appointment City services to its residents. At this time, all City facilities are open.

Per Santa Clara County Public Health Department guidelines, face coverings are required indoors at all times.
