Santa Clara High School Loses
The Bruins lost to the Fremont Firebirds 28-35. After the end of the first quarter, SCHS was down by 1 (6-7). By halftime, Fremont had increased its lead to three (21-18). The teams matched touchdowns in the third and the Firebirds got in the end zone while the Bruins got a field goal in the fourth. Santa Clara plays Saratoga on Nov. 1.

From the Den
Mitey Cats win. Deuce Meszaros intercepted the Vikings’ quarterback and returned it for a touchdown. Meszaros also caught a reception from Ethan Noriega for a touchdown. Luther Glennscored twice and Isiah Ketton once in the win. The Mitey Cats play Oakland West in the Mitey Bowl this weekend.

Thunder Cats win. Despite the Vikings doing their best to keep Adam Arenas at bay, the Thunder Cats scored on the legs of Gennaro Fiorillo, who crossed into the end zone for the winning touchdown with less than two minutes left in the game.

Panthers win. The Panthers scored six touchdowns in a 48-22 victory over the Menlo-Atherton Vikings to finish the season undefeated.

Wildcats lose. The Wildcats scored first on a 27-yard run from Gabe Herrera, and Jose Lacayo Tua scored on a 37-yard pass from Erik KettonKetton and Ryan Fox played on both offense and defense, and linebacker Richard Medel came up with some big hits when it mattered most.

Lions Win. The Lions beat the Vikings 30-0. Richard Herrera celebrated his 15th birthday by scoring three touchdowns. The Lions blocked a punt late in the first quarter and Thomas O’Donnell(sophomore at SCHS) ran the ball in for a touchdown. The Lions will host the SF PAL Seahwaks this weekend.

Mission College Men’s Soccer Wins
Mission College beat Gavilan 2-0 on Oct. 22. Goals were scored by Guilherme Rozatto (30th) with an assist by Michael Kamara and Giovanny Luna (80th), with an assist by Mario Olmos. Mission plays at Canada on Oct. 29.

Mission College Women’s Soccer Loses
Mission College lost 7-0 to Monterey on Oct. 22. Mission College then lost 6-0 to Ohlone on Oct. 24. Mission plays at San Francisco on Oct. 29.

Santa Clara University Women’s Soccer Wins Big
The Broncos beat University of San Francisco 9-0 on Oct. 27. Senior Morgan Marlborough scored a hat trick (39th, 52nd, 56th), senior Sarah Jackson scored twice (62nd and 70th), and senior Ellie Rice (11th), freshman Jordan Jesolva (27th), senior Julie Johnston (44th), and junior Sofia Huerta (63rd) netted the ball once in the victory. SCU plays at University of Portland on Nov. 7.

Santa Clara University Women’s Volleyball Loses
SCU lost to University of San Francisco 3-1 (22-25, 19-25, 25-22, 17-25) on Oct. 25. Freshman Sabrina Clayton led the team with 14 kills and senior Alyssa Anderson had 52 assists and 10 digs in the loss. Santa Clara plays at Gonzaga on Oct. 31.

Santa Clara University Men’s Water Polo Loses One, Wins Four
Santa Clara hosted The Rodeo on Oct. 24, 26, and 27. The Broncos beat Cal Baptist 10-8 in overtime on Oct. 24. Santa Clara beat Harvard 12-9 and Brown 10-9 on Oct. 26. On the final day of the tournament, SCU lost to Concordia 12-6 and beat Bucknell 14-12. SCU plays at UC San Diego on Nov. 1.

Santa Clara University Women’s Golf Wins
SCU’s women’s golf team claimed first place at the Colby Invitational Oct. 21-22. SCU shot a 615 (312, 303 +39) to beat Boise State by one stroke. Individually, Santa Clara had three golfers finish in the top 10. Freshman Annie Freman was the top overall finisher, shooting a 148 (75, 73 +4). Sophomore Sadie Strain finished second, shooting a 148 (70, 78 +4) and junior Kaci McCartanfinished tied for fourth, shooting a 151 (74, 77 +7)
