Competitors fired up their grills at the 7thAnnual Silicon Valley BBQ Championships. The delicious event took place in Central Park in Santa Clara over the weekend of June 22-23.
Although the temperatures in the Bay Area skyrocketed, BBQ fans from all over the Bay Area and beyond filled the fields behind the International Swim Center for their chance to sample some wonderful BBQ, shop vendor booths, enjoy music, get some sun and enjoy some tasty beers.
The BBQ Championships are more than just a competition to find out who makes the best BBQ, it’s also the biggest fundraiser for the Santa Clara Rotary — all proceeds from the event are used to help fund their programs.
On both Friday and Saturday, visitors could sample some of the BBQ from several of the competitors, plus there was plenty of music from several area bands — the Megatones, the Houserockers, the Element, Ryan Scripps and Long Train Runnin’.
