Santa Clara is working to be more pedestrian-friendly. While older adults walk more often, they're also at greater risk of injury or death than many other age groups. But there are things they can do to be safer, while still staying healthy and active. On Feb. 11, the Santa Clara Police Department will give a presentation, "Pedestrian Safety Workshop: A Focus on Older Adults," developed by the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at the Santa Clara Senior Center, 1303 Fremont Street,. The event is from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Participation is free, but space is limited and pre-registration is required. To register, call the Senior Center at (408) 615-3170. Funding for this workshop has been made available through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
