Scott Lane Elementary School Scores Back-to-School Donation from Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley

At the beginning of the school year, most academic institutions would welcome a supply of paper big enough to last through the last day of school. Fortunately for Scott Lane Elementary School, the Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley recently provided a generous donation of paper goods and other school supplies.

“Scott Lane School requested regular copy paper, color paper, white board markers for teachers and students, and pencils for students,” said Dr. Heather Shaw, who serves on the Board of Directors for the Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley and owns Santa Clara’s Nova Chiropractic Center for Optimal Health. “We’re spending $1,000 on donations of supplies and materials for Scott Lane School. This money is all part of the Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley’s District Grant.”

According to Shaw, the Rotary District 5170 had funded another program called Laptops for Good.

“That program is for students in need who are going away to college,” Shaw said. “To qualify for a laptop, the applying student should have a need, scholastic ability and volunteering experience, which is what the Rotary Club is about. And we give them a laptop to start their program with. What happened this year is the Rotary District gave us this grant. We had some money remaining from the grant and we decided to dedicate the remaining money to a local school. Scott Lane Elementary School was chosen.”

This isn’t the first time Scott Lane Elementary School received donations from a local Rotary Club.

“In a previous year, we got $500 in school supplies for Scott Lane,” Shaw said. “$250 came from the Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley and the Rotary Club of Santa Clara matched it.”

“This is the third year that Dr. Shaw has graciously organized donations for our school,” said Adriana Reyes, Vice Principal of Scott Lane Elementary School. “We always welcome the support of community organizations, such as the Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley.”
