In Santa Clara the holiday season beings on the first Friday of December with the City Christmas tree lighting and ends with the Santa Clara Woman’s Club’s annual re-gifting auction on the first Friday in January. It’s an event that, for club members, gives special meaning to “out with the old and in with the new”
The event always features an eclectic selection of items ranging from unique finds, to, well, stuff that’s kind of “meh.” But like they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
This year’s treasures included brand new holiday linens, a classic fondue set, plenty of wine and bubble bath, and the three-piece holiday lawn ornament set shown here. The bidding was spirited and, as usual, certain members were suspected of bidding up prices to benefit the club’s income.
The Woman’s Club’s next event is its annual Fashion Show – this year’s theme is “Go Wild” – on March 11, 11 a.m. at Mariani’s Restaurant, 2500 El Camino. Tickets are $55. For reservations and more information, call Lona Ingrahm, (408) 247- 9525 or email stevenlona@comcast.net. The event raises money for the Woman’s Clubs charitable activities.
The Santa Clara Women’s Club’s monthly lunch is held the first Friday of every month at the Adobe on 3260 The Alameda – an historical building that has been owned by the Woman’s Club for more than a century.
Visitors are always welcome, but the Club asks that you make a reservation for lunch, which is $10. For more information about the club and upcoming meetings, visit santaclarawomansclub.org or call (408) 246-8000.
