Santa Clara School Bus Team Honored for Giving Back to the Community

For the last three years, Durham School Services in Santa Clara and Starbucks have brewed up a winning partnership to clean up the San Francisco Bay area. Employees at local Starbucks stores organize community service projects and Durham donates the transportation of the hundreds of volunteers to the clean up sites.

For consistently giving back to their community, the Santa Clara team earned the Business Impact Award in the Community category from National Express Corporation (NEC), a leader in student transportation. Durham School Services is part of NEC, and Santa Clara is one of 11 teams and individuals among NEC’s 220 locations across the United States and Canada that is being recognized for demonstrating the company’s values in action.

Santa Clara General Manager Guy Shanks looks forward to continuing the partnership with Starbucks: “Everyone who works this event comes away with a great feeling of satisfaction and a job well done. This year, we will increase our participation by also helping with the clean up, in addition to shuttling volunteers.”
