Santa Clara Police Report: September 6 – 12

Thefts from Vehicles

Location: 1200 Block of Carolyn Drive

Between 9/5/20 at approximately 1500 hours and 9/6/20 at approximately 0821 hours, two vehicle burglaries occurred on the 1200 block of Carolyn Drive.

The unknown subject(s) broke both victim’s driver’s side windows and rummaged through the glove boxes of the vehicles. The subject did not remove anything from the vehicles but caused an estimated $900 in damages. The subject(s) is unknown and at large.

Prowling

Location: 3400 Block of Wheeling Drive

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call for service regarding a prior incident of prowling.

On 9/6/2020 at approximately 2334 hours, an unknown male subject entered the backyard of a residence on the 3400 block of Wheeling Drive. The victim had video surveillance of the prowler and wanted the incident documented. There were no items missing. The subject is unknown and outstanding.

Petty Theft

Location: Bowers Park, 2582 Cabrillo Avenue

Two juvenile males rode their bicycles to Bowers Park, located at 2582 Cabrillo Avenue, and laid their bicycles down in the grassy area near the play structure.

While playing, an unknown male juvenile rode away on one of the unattended bicycles towards Barkley Avenue. The bicycle was valued at $300. The subject is outstanding.

Weapons

Location: San Tomas Expressway and Scott Boulevard

While on routine patrol, an officer observed a vehicle with expired registration on San Tomas Expressway near Scott Boulevard. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

The vehicle was occupied by a male driver and a female passenger. While speaking with the occupants, the officer observed a large black folding knife in plain view on the center console, between the two front seats. A pat search of the driver yielded metal knuckles in his back pocket. A search of the vehicle revealed pepper spray and drug paraphernalia. The driver was cited and released at the scene.

Vandalism

Location: 2200 Block The Alameda

Public Safety Dispatchers deployed an officer to the 2200 block of The Alameda on the report of a prior vandalism.

An unknown subject(s) smashed the front left entrance window to the business. Nothing was stolen however it was estimated the window would cost approximately $4,000 to replace. The subject(s) is unknown and outstanding.

Residential Burglary

Location: 3700 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was dispatched to the 3700 block of El Camino Real for a prior burglary.

An unknown subject entered the apartment between 9/10/20 at 1130 hours and 9/11/20 at 1130 hours by prying open a window. The subject stole several miscellaneous household items (e.g. blankets, towels, frying pans, etc.) and a key fob totaling $425. The subject(s) is unknown and outstanding.

Weapons

Location: Los Padres Boulevard and Pruneridge Avenue

An officer observed a vehicle swerving and failing to maintain with a lane while traveling on N. Winchester Boulevard. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop. While following the vehicle, the officer observed the passenger look back at the patrol vehicle multiple times and reach underneath the passenger seat. The driver pulled over in the area of Los Padres Boulevard and Pruneridge Avenue.

The vehicle was occupied by a male driver and male passenger. On contact, the officer observed pepper spray in plain view in the center console, a fixed blade knife on the rear floorboard and what appeared to be a rifle scope lying on the back seat of the vehicle partially concealed by a backpack. Both individuals were detained in handcuffs while the officers learned more.

A Records check revealed the driver is a convicted felon. A search of the vehicle yielded a controlled substance and prescription medication. Both the driver and passenger were cited and released from the scene.
