Santa Clara Police Report: March 31 – April 6

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the City and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s homepage (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Drug Arrest

Location:  Lafayette Street and Martin Avenue

An officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on the 2400 block of Lafayette Street after on-viewing a vehicle with expired registration.

The officer approached the male driver. A Records check revealed he had a suspended license and misdemeanor warrant. A consensual search of his person yielded a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested.

Traffic Accident – Major Injury

Location:  Homestead Road at Pepper Tree Lane

A major injury accident occurred on Homestead Road at Pepper Tree Lane. A moving vehicle struck a stopped vehicle at a red light. Three individuals were transported to a local hospital with moderate to serious injuries. The intersection was closed temporarily to tend to the occupants.

Foot Pursuit

Location:  2500 Block of El Camino Real

An officer on foot patrol observed a male subject peering through the windows of an apartment complex on the 2500 block of El Camino Real. When the officer approached the subject, he immediately ran across all lanes of El Camino Real. Despite commands to stop, he continued.

After a brief foot pursuit, the officer detained the subject. A Records check revealed the subject was on probation. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Hit and Run

Location:  Lawrence Expressway and Monroe Street

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding a sheered fire hydrant. Both the Santa Clara Police and Fire Departments were deployed. An unknown driver struck the fire hydrant and fled the scene. The situation caused major traffic delays and media interest. The suspect has not been identified.

Driving Under the Influence

Location:  500 block of Jackson Street

Officers were dispatched to a reported drunk driver who had crashed into a roommate’s parked vehicle. Officers responded to the scene and found the male driver asleep at the wheel. He was arrested and processed at the Santa Clara County Jail.

Traffic Accident – Major Injury

Location: Bowers Avenue and Warburton Avenue

An officer observed a vehicle traveling on Warburton Avenue. The vehicle failed to stop at the intersection at Calabazas Boulevard. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic enforcement stop. The vehicle immediately accelerated, ran a red signal light and collided with another vehicle on Bowers Avenue at Warburton Avenue.

The suspect vehicle was occupied by a male driver and two female passengers. The victim vehicle was occupied by a female driver and three juveniles. The Santa Clara Fire Department was summoned on scene to provide medical aid. Two individuals in the suspect vehicle and all four individuals in the victim vehicle were transported to local hospitals. The intersection was closed while Police and Fire personnel tended to the victims and conducted the investigation.

A Records check of the driver revealed he had a suspended driver’s license. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail after being medically cleared at a local hospital.

Saturday, April 6, 2019

Felony Arrest

Location:  3400 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was patrolling a motel parking lot on the 3400 block of El Camino Real and observed a vehicle that matched the description of a reported stolen vehicle. A check of the vehicle identification number confirmed it was stolen out of San Jose.

Officers contacted two subjects, one male and one female, inside a motel room. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
