The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.
Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Fraud
Location: Police Building, 601 El Camino Real
On 3/8/19, a victim received a phone call from an unknown phone number. The male caller stated he worked for a computer security firm and the victim had something wrong with their computer. The suspect told the victim to purchase a $500 gift card to fix the computer. During the conversation, the suspect referred to a $250 reimbursement refund that would be received at a later date after using the service.
The victim purchased a $500 gift card and provided the gift card information over the phone. The victim did not receive the promised reimbursement and contacted the financial institution to start an investigation. The financial institution required a police report to document the incident.

Counterfeit
Location: 3400 Block of El Camino Real
An officer observed a vehicle near the intersection of Flora Vista Avenue and El Camino Real with expired registration. A DMV registration check confirmed such and the officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.
The officer approached the vehicle occupied by a male driver and two passengers, one male and one female. A Records check of the male passenger revealed nothing of note. The female suspect provided a false name. It was later determined she was on active probation. A search of her person yielded counterfeit bills, forged printed checks and drug paraphernalia. She was arrested and transported to SCPD’s temporary holding facility for processing.
The driver utilized a false name as well. A Records check revealed he was on Post Release Community Supervision. He was in possession of counterfeit bills. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Vehicle Theft
Location: 3900 Block of Lick Mill Boulevard
The victim parked a vehicle on the 3900 block of Lick Mill Boulevard at approximately 1353 hours. At approximately 1205 hours, the victim heard the car alarm go off. The victim returned to the vehicle at approximately 1300 hours and noticed the rear passenger window was damaged. A laptop was stolen. The victim contacted SCPD via phone to report the incident.

Petty Theft
Location: 2300 Block of Lafayette Street
A store employee witnessed a male suspect place items in a backpack. The suspect was approached by store employees and returned a few of the items before running out of the store with the balance of the items. The suspect fled on a bicycle southbound on Lafayette Street. The value of the stolen items is estimated at $30. The suspect remains at large.

Residential Burglary
Location: 2100 Block of Newhall Street
Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding an alarm activation. Officers were deployed on the assumption a residential burglary was in progress.
Upon arrival, officers observed debris from a door that appeared to be kicked open. An unknown suspect(s) stole four bags of miscellaneous tools. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Driving Under the Influence
Location: 3300 Block of Benton Street
An officer was dispatched to a solo vehicle accident on the 3300 block of Benton Street.
Upon arrival, the officer located two male subjects near the vehicle. The male driver displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. He was led through the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and did not perform them satisfactorily. A Records check revealed he had a suspended driver’s license. He was arrested.
At SCPD’s temporary holding facility, his preliminary alcohol screening read 0.18 and 0.16 blood alcohol content.

The reporting party witnessed two male subjects open two sets of mail boxes across the street from one another and take several items.
The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival. Later in the day, a bag of mail was located in the area.
