Santa Clara Police Report: March 15 – 28

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Missing Person

Location: 3000 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call from a woman who reported her 78-year-old husband, who suffers from dementia, was missing. He was last seen in Westfield Valley Fair Mall on the 3000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard.

Available units searched the area and located the missing person approximately one hour after the initial report. He was reunited with his wife.

Attempted Burglary

Location: 5200 Block Stevens Creek Boulevard

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call from an alarm provider regarding an alarm activation to a business on the 5200 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers located a broken glass panel to the front entrance of the business.

The unknown subject(s) did not gain entry to the business and fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Vandalism

Location: 2000 Block of Sahara Way

A reporting party witnessed a male subject throw a glass bottle and rock at a window causing it to break. The reporting party contacted Public Safety Dispatchers with the subject’s description and direction of travel.

Officers located a subject matching the reporting party’s description. The reporting party positively identified the subject. The subject was arrested. The damage is estimated at $1,500.

Grand Theft

Location: 1600 Block of Coleman Avenue

On 3/6/20 an unknown male subject stole a gaming unit valued at $1,416.99, from a business on the 1600 block of Coleman Avenue.

On 3/18/20 a subject matching the description matching the subject from the 3/6/2020 incident selected the same gaming unit and attempted to walk out of the business with the item. Store employees confronted the subject and he fled the scene without the item.

Employees contacted the Police Department to report the incident, suspect and vehicle description. The suspect remains at large.

Residential Burglary

Location: 1400 Block of Agnew Road

Sometime between 1930 hours on 3/18/20 and 1430 hours on 3/19/20 a residential burglary occurred on the 1400 block of Agnew Road.

Unknown subject(s) entered the residence and stole several items including a firearm. The subject(s) remain at large.

Fraud

Location: 3500 Block of Agate Drive

An unknown subject(s) created a “clone” Facebook profile, pretending to be a friend of the victim. Using the impersonated Facebook account, the subject requested money from the victim. The victim wired $3,000 to a bank account.

The victim later discovered the Facebook profile had been hacked and the subject received the funds fraudulently. The subject remains at large.

Drug Possession

Location: 2800 Block of Cabrillo Avenue

A reporting party contacted Public Safety Dispatchers regarding an unknown male in the backyard of a residence on the 2800 block of Cabrillo Avenue.

While en route to the call for service, an officer observed a male subject matching the reporting party’s description on Cabrillo Avenue near Morrison Avenue. The officer detained the subject.

A Records check revealed the subject was on Post Release Community Supervision. A search of his person yielded a controlled substance. He was arrested.

Driving Under the Influence

Location; Maria Street and Maria Court

A solo vehicle collision was reported near Maria Street at Maria Court.

The female driver displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication, admitted to drinking and was unable to successfully perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. A preliminary alcohol screening yielded a 0.24% blood alcohol content.

She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 3600 Block of Kifer Road

Between 03/19/20 at approximately 1100 hours and 03/23/20 at 1100 hours, an unknown subject(s) cut a lock to gain access to a construction site on the 3600 block of Kifer Road. Approximately $5,308.33 in copper wire was stolen and an unknown number of tools. There is no suspect information currently.

Drug Possession

Location: 2300 Block of Calle de Luna

At approximately 0359 hours, an officer was dispatched to the 2300 block of Calle de Luna on the report of a suspicious vehicle parked behind an abandoned building.

The responding officer located a male subject. A Record check revealed he was on searchable probation. A search of his vehicle yielded a controlled substance. He was arrested.

Armed Robbery

Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real

Two juveniles were sitting outside the main entrance of a business on the 2000 block of El Camino Real. A vehicle drove into the parking lot and two unidentified subjects got out of the vehicle; two additional subjects remained in the vehicle. The subjects brandished a handgun and requested the individuals’ property. Fearing for their life, the victims complied with a Chromebook, two iPhones, two sets of Air Pods, backpacks, wallet, student ID, house keys, cash, etc. Approximately $2,874 was stolen. The subjects fled northbound on Scott Boulevard prior to police arrival.

Residential Burglary

Location: 700 Block of Hilmar Street

Between 03/25/20 at approximately 2200 hours and 3/26/20 at approximately 0830 hours, an unknown subject(s) broke into residence on the 700 block of Hilmar Street.

The resident found the backyard gate open and the door to the detached garage open, both of which were unlocked. A bicycle and tools were stolen before the subject(s) fled the scene. The subject(s) remain at large.

Driving Under the Influence

Location: Homestead Road and Los Padres Boulevard

Public Safety Dispatchers deployed officers to a multi-vehicle collision on Homestead Road at Los Padres Boulevard. The accident involved multiple unoccupied parked vehicles and a truck.

While en route, an officer observed a damaged vehicle traveling on Karen Drive. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop. The male driver exhibited objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication and was unable to satisfactorily perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. A preliminary alcohol screening had a 0.22% blood alcohol content. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Petty Theft

Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was summoned to the 2000 block of El Camino Real on the report of a petty theft.

A male subject concealed several items in his clothing and exited the store without paying for the items. The subject was detained by loss prevention specialists. The total value of the stolen merchandise was approximately $78.97.

 

The responding officer arrested the subject.
